Good evening. My name's Steven, I'm a pilot and freight company owner here in Stephenville, Texas. I need to tell you about something that happened to me back in January of 2008. January 8th, to be exact. I'm fifty years old, been around aircraft my whole life, and what I saw that night was nothing I'd ever seen before. I was over at my buddy Mike Odom's place, just outside of town in Selden. We've been friends since first grade, you know, grew up together. Had a couple other friends there too. We'd built a fire outside, just sitting around talking. It was a beautiful evening, clear skies. Actually, it was one of the most beautiful sunsets I'd ever seen. That's what I was looking at when it all started.
I caught movement out of the corner of my eye. Off to the east, there were these lights coming toward us. At first I thought maybe it was a plane, but the lights were wrong. Too bright, too intense. And they were moving fast, real fast, but staying low to the ground. Maybe three thousand feet up. As it got closer, I could make out the shape better. This thing was massive. I'm talking about half a mile wide and close to a mile long. To put it in perspective, I told people later it was bigger than a Walmart, and they've been teasing me about that ever since. But I'm not exaggerating. I fly a Cessna, I know how to judge distances and sizes in the air. This was enormous. The lights were arranged in a pattern. Seven extremely bright lights on what I figured was the rear of the craft, all in a horizontal line. They were flashing, but not in any regular pattern I recognized. Not like aircraft lights. These were high intensity, strobing in no particular order.
And here's the thing that really got me. It was completely silent. I mean dead silent. No engine noise, no wind noise, nothing. An aircraft that size should've been roaring, especially at that speed and that low altitude. But there wasn't a sound. Just this massive object gliding through the air like it weighed nothing. It passed right over us, maybe three to four miles away from where we were sitting. As it went by, I had this strange feeling. Like they knew we were watching them. Like they were aware of us. I can't really explain it better than that, but it was intense. Then the object came to a complete stop over Stephenville. Just hung there in the sky. I watched the lights reconfigure. They went from horizontal to this arch shape, then changed to a vertical pattern. And then, I saw what looked like two rectangles of bright flame, and it was gone. Just disappeared. silence from aircraft that size is unusual - Chris'
