Listen, I know how this is going to sound, but I need to tell someone what happened to me back in January of 1979. I've told this story before, and some people laughed, but the people who know me, they know I'm not one to make things up. I'm just an ordinary housewife from Rowley Regis, and what happened that morning, well, it was the strangest experience of my whole life. It was the morning of January 4th. The snow was still on the ground from the holidays, everything was white and quiet. My husband Thomas had just left for his job at the cement works, must have been around half past seven. I was in the kitchen, tidying up after breakfast, when I noticed this light out in the back garden. My first thought was that Thomas had left the carport light on, you know how men are, always forgetting things like that. So I went to check, thinking I'd just switch it off. But when I got to the back door, the carport was dark. The light was still there, though. This bright orange glow, hovering right over my garden. As I stood there watching it, it started changing color, going from orange to white, this brilliant white light. And then I heard this sound. Zee, zee, zee. Like nothing I'd ever heard before. High pitched, mechanical almost, but not quite.
And that's when they came through the door. Three of them, just floating right past me into my kitchen. I'm not ashamed to say I was terrified. I grabbed hold of the metal sink, thinking I don't know what, maybe I could defend myself with it. But I couldn't move. I was paralyzed, rooted to the spot. My dog Hobo, he's an Alsatian, big strong dog, he started acting strange right away. His fur stood straight up, you know, like when a cat gets frightened. He was swaying back and forth, and then he just collapsed on the floor, staring up at the ceiling with these glassy eyes. The poor thing looked drugged. And then the strangest thing happened. The fear just, it lifted away. I started feeling this euphoric sensation, like I was floating. Actually, I was floating. My feet weren't touching the ground anymore. It felt as though I was in heaven, although I was still at home in my own lounge. I floated into the lounge, and that's when I saw what they were doing. They were shaking my Christmas tree. Still had it up from the holidays, you see, this little artificial tree we'd put in the corner. And these beings, they were yanking at it, touching it, like curious children examining something they'd never seen before.
Once they stopped bothering the tree, I got a proper look at them. I'm not one to make things up, but I'll tell you what I saw. They were slim, quite small really, about three and a half to four feet tall. Their skin was this waxy white color, like corpses, and they had these black eyes. Not like human eyes at all. Just black, glittering, like diamonds. No eyebrows, no ears, no noses even. Just these thin mouths. They wore these silvery green tunics with silver waistcoats over them, all covered in silver buttons. On their heads they had little silver caps with something like a lamp on top, and over everything they wore these transparent helmets. Fish bowl helmets, that's what they looked like. And wings. They had wonderful wings, rainbow colored, but not like our earthly colors. These colors were so much more vibrant, more alive somehow. The wings were covered in these dots, like Braille, and they used them to fold themselves through doorways. I found my voice finally. I said, 'Three of you and one of me. What are you going to do? What do you want with me?' They didn't answer with their mouths. Instead, they reached up and pushed these buttons on their chests, and I heard this beeping sound. Then voices came out, but from their chests, not their faces. All three of them speaking in unison. 'We shall not harm you,' they said. 'We come from the sky.'
