He came back pale as a sheet, talking about 'lights' and 'giants.' We thought the stress was getting to him. Until I heard the sound myself.

It wasn't a machine noise. Looked like greenish plastic, or maybe scales, shimmering in the dim security lights. I worked there for fifteen years, and I had never seen anything like it. I looked at its hands hanging by its sides. That's the part that haunts me. It didn't have hands like ours. Just three long, thick fingers. Mechanical looking.
