Good Evening. This happened to me back in 1978, and people still ask me about it. It changed my entire life. I was 26 years old, working as a security guard for a private company in the Genoa region. Night shift patrol, checking properties, the usual routine I'd done a hundred times before. December sixth. Cold night, you know, freezing actually. I was doing my rounds near Torriglia, checking this villa called Villa Rossi. The dentist who owned it was away, so I'd swing by a few times each shift to make sure everything was secure. Around 11:30 at night I'm driving up the road toward the property and I see these four lights in the garden. My first thought was burglars. Made sense, empty house, lights moving around. I radioed it in to my supervisor Franco, told him I was going to check it out. I grabbed my flashlight and my pistol, standard issue for the job, and I got out of the car to investigate.
I climbed through the fence and onto this low rock wall that ran along the property line. Moving quiet, trying to catch whoever was in there before they knew I was coming. I could still see those lights, four of them, moving around near the back of the house. I'm thinking about how I'm going to approach this, you know, best way to handle multiple suspects. Then something touched my shoulder from behind. I spun around fast, expecting to see one of the gang trying to get the drop on me. What I saw instead, I mean, nothing prepares you for this. Standing there was this creature. Enormous. Had to be three meters tall, maybe ten feet. Green skin, scaly like a reptile, but wrinkled too, like it was very old. The eyes were triangular, yellow, with these thick red veins visible across its forehead. I just froze. My flashlight fell right out of my hand. This thing had pointed features on the sides of its face, and around its mouth was some kind of breathing device. The skin looked loose, almost like it was wearing a suit that didn't fit right. And it was staring right at me with those yellow eyes. I bent down, grabbed my flashlight, and I ran. Ran as fast as I've ever moved in my life back toward my car.
As I'm running, the whole ground in front of me lights up. Bright, intense light. I look back and there's this triangular shaped object rising up into the air from behind the villa. Massive thing. As it climbed higher I heard this hissing sound, loud, and then this wave of heat hit me. Intense heat, almost knocked me down even though it was freezing outside. I made it to the car and grabbed the radio. I was screaming into it, trying to tell Franco what I'd just seen. He told me later he couldn't understand what I was saying, just that I was terrified. He kept asking if I was being attacked by men. I remember saying 'Non sono uomini.' They are not men. Then I must have passed out because the next thing I remember is waking up on the ground with two of my colleagues standing over me. Pietro and Luca had driven out to check on me. Franco had sent them after he lost contact. They said when they found me around 1 AM I was lying on the ground in front of the villa, unconscious. Here's what they couldn't explain. It was December, bitter cold that night, and I'd been outside for over an hour. But when they touched my clothes, my jacket, everything was warm. clothes in freezing weather is really strange - Rita' Hot even. Like I'd been standing next to a heater.
